VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Fountain Tire Ltd. has added TireMobile, a mobile fleet service for on-site tire sales and installation, to the portfolio of services it offers in and around Vancouver.
TireMobile also offers online booking, seasonal tire changeovers and tire storage services. The platform is being launched exclusively in British Columbia's Lower Mainland, Fountain Tire said, due to the area's population density, demographic fit and its existing network of 15 Fountain Tire stores in the region.
"There's no question the automotive landscape is changing," Nason Higinbotham, Fountain Tire's director of southern B.C. stores, said, without disclosing how many TireMobile vans it has operating.
"Our customers were looking for the convenience of online shopping and at-home service, without sacrificing the high-quality products and professional installation they've come to trust with Fountain Tire. TireMobile was launched in direct response to those needs."
TireMobile is supported by participating Fountain Tire locations in the region. Each store contributes to the cost of running the service, and each earns a share of the revenue. One store manager is dedicated to running the TireMobile service, based at the company's distribution center in Delta, British Columbia.
"TireMobile helps remove barriers that may prevent a driver from staying safe on the road," Mr. Higinbotham said.
The service is limited to passenger cars, SUVs, and light trucks with a single rear axle and with tire sizes ranging from 13 to 22 inches in rim diameter and overall tire diameters up to 35 inches.
The scope of work covered includes seasonal tire changeovers, seasonal wheel swaps (bolt-on wheels), new tire installations and tire repairs, Fountain Tire said. Work can be performed only on private property where permission has been granted.
The mobile vans require a minimum vertical clearance of 9 feet, 1 inches (2.8 meters) to access any covered/underground areas.
