BOWIE, Md. — Tire recycling executive Richard "Dick" Gust is a new member of the Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Mr. Gust, president of national account sales and director of government affairs for Liberty Tire Recycling L.L.C. of Pittsburgh, began his new position on May 7. His appointment is scheduled to run until Aug. 16, 2022, when the committee's current charter expires, TIA said.
Mr. Gust is a former Tire Industry Association (TIA) president and current chair of the association's Environmental Advisory Council.
"Dick's appointment recognizes his distinguished work and leadership in the domestic and international waste tire recycling and reuse segments," TIA CEO Roy Littlefield said in a statement.
"We are honored to have such a well-respected and knowledgeable person as Dick representing the tire recycling industry and TIA on this important advisory committee."
The committee provides advice to expand U.S. export of environmental technologies, goods and services while complying with federal environmental, safety and related requirements,
Mr. Gust was TIA president in 2005 and served as a long-time board member, TIA said. His work as chairman of TIA's EAC includes identifying and promoting recycled manufactured products and sustainable practices within the tire and rubber industry.
