FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Portions of St. Lucie Battery & Tire's store in Fort Pierce suffered "heavy" damage by a two-alarm fire early in the morning of June 8.
The blaze, which was called into the St. Lucie County Fire District at 4:50 a.m., remains under investigation, though officials said it doesn't appear to be suspicious in nature.
Firefighters called the fire extinguished at 6:54 a.m. No injuries were reported.
The fire damage for the large part was contained to the inventory storage area and a shipping/receiving office in a separate structure on the store's property, according to Doug Miller, president of the dealership.
The fire had no impact on the store's capacity to service customers, Miller said, although it's "very likely" that inventory stored there will not be sellable due to heat exposure.
At least a portion of inventory storage area will need significant repair or replacement, he added. The offices were a total loss as well as the receiving area.
The Fort Pierce store is one of 15 points of sale St. Lucie Battery operates in five counties along Florida's Atlantic Coast from Melbourne to West Palm Beach.
