STAUNTON, Va. — Fisher Auto Parts will acquire LaCava & Sowersby Auto Parts — with locations in Fall River, Somerset and New Bedford, Mass. — at the end of June.
The acquisition extends the reach of Fisher Auto Parts, which operates a distribution center in nearby Providence, R.I.
Acccording to Fisher Auto, LaCava & Sowersby Auto Parts is a third-generation family-owned business that was founded 37 years ago in Fall River by William Sowersby and brothers John LaCava, Steven LaCava and Paul LaCava. Anthony LaCava — father of John, Steven and Paul — soon joined the business.
LaCava & Sowersby Auto Parts expanded in 1994, then opened a second location in Somerset in 2001 and later a third in New Bedford.
Anthony LaCava retired in 2002 and John LaCava died in 2019.
Fisher Auto Parts — led by David Reid, executive vice president and chief operating officer — is a founding member of Federated Auto Parts Distributors and now has around 500 company-owned locations plus more than 100 independent jobbers in 18 states.
Earlier this year, Fisher Auto Parts acquired Allied Auto Parts, a Brockton, Mass.-based business with 13 locations in Massachusetts and two locations in Rhode Island.
