Some 2010 F-150 and 2011 F-Super Duty pickup trucks may experience accelerated brake pad wear. One likely cause for the trouble, reports Ford, is a misadjusted brake light switch which results in the brakes dragging.
To make the diagnosis, raise the truck on a lift until all four wheels are off the ground and hanging freely. Now rotate each wheel by hand. If the wheels rotate with little trouble this information doesn't apply; continue troubleshooting until the cause of the abnormal pad wear is resolved. If the wheels bind, remove the brake light switch and rotate all four wheels once again. If the wheels now turn freely, reinstall or replace the brake switch and adjust it according to a repair manual.
