BOUCHERVILLE, Quebec — Tire wholesaler Distribution Stox has finalized its acquisition of the distribution division of Service de Pneus Lavoie Outaouais Inc.,which specializes in distributing tires for cars, trucks and commercial vehicles in Ontario, as well as the Outaouais region of Québec.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As part of the agreement, Distribution Stocks has acquired the distribution operations of four warehouses: in Gatineau, Quebec, and Belleville, Brampton and Ottawa, Ontario.
Distribution Stox said it has put a plan in place to facilitate the integration of the teams, systems and customer order management. Sales operations teams are also working with on-site employees to ensure a smooth integration, the company said.
Distribution Stox will change the ordering platform this summer. The deal was announced in mid-December.
Bruno Leclair, president and CEO of Distribution Stox, said he is thrilled with the new employees.
"The transition wouldn't be possible without the support of our Ontario and Gatineau teams," he said. "Our top priority is making sure that our employees feel at home and continue to offer top-quality products and service to our customers."
Distribution Stox said the business being acquired generates C$100 million in revenue annually.
Retail service centers operating under the Point S banner, as well as a tire retreading plant, that service Québec and Ontario are not part of the deal and will remain owned by Normand Lavoie.
Distribution Stox said Service de Pneus Lavoie Outaouais "will remain an important shareholder" of Unimax Ltd.
Lavoie was chairman of the board for several years, the company said, and "was also an important link in the transition of Unimax's business model."
Distribution Stox said the company transformed from a cooperative model to a corporate one under his leadership; he also helped bring the Point S concept to Canada.
Mr. Lavoie will be a special adviser to Distribution Stox throughout 2022 to ensure a smooth transition.
In January, the Boucherville-based distributor anounced it was acquiring Les Distributions Claude Côté, a distributor of tires for cars, light trucks, and commercial vehicles in eastern Quebec.
