QUEBEC CITY, Quebec — Tire wholesaler Distribution Stox has consolidated operations from five area warehouses into a 250,000-sq.-ft. distribution center it opened recently in Quebec City.
The new D/C, located along Quebec Autoroute 573/Henry IV Highway northwest of Quebec City proper, will have capacity for 450,000 tires once the final phase is completed in March 2022, Distribution Stox said, or 125,000 more than possible in the smaller facilities.
The building is located in the Espace d'innovation Chauveau with immediate access to the highway, providing the "perfect combination of accessibility and modernity," the company said.
Distribution Stox did not say whether it's leasing the new facility or owns it outright.
"The new site will help us efficiently meet the ever-increasing demand in the Quebec City area, even during peak seasons," Leif Ellefsen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, said.
"Our simple processes and smooth delivery service are our biggest assets and they will remain at the heart of all our actions," he added.
With 17 D/Cs and 150 delivery vehicles, Distribution Stox claims to have the largest tire inventory in eastern Canada, serving customers in Quebec, Ontario and the four Atlantic provinces.
Boucherville, Quebec-based Distribution Stox is a business partnership created in 2016 by four leading Canadian wholesale distributors — Pneus Unimax Ltd., Distribution Pneus RT Ltd., Distributon DSP and Distribu-Pneus.
The company advertises having 19 brands available. Earlier this year it struck a deal with Michelin North America to distribute its BFGoodrich, Michelin and Uniroyal brands to dealers in Canada's Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island.
In order to accommodate that deal, the company enlarged warehouses in Moncton, New Brunswick, and St. John's, Newfoundland, and took an option to enlarge its facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, if necessary.
