MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Penske Performance Inc. and Discount Tire/America's Tire have extended Discount Tire's sponsorship deals for Team Penske's NASCAR Cup Series and IndyCar teams for an undisclosed number of years.
Entering its 14th season as a Team Penske partner in 2023, Discount Tire will:
- serve as the primary sponsor for Austin Cindric and the No. 2 Ford Mustang for multiple NASCAR races this season, including the Daytona 500.
- serve as primary sponsor the No. 12 Ford Mustang driven by Ryan Blaney in select NASCAR races this season and into the future, under the new agreement.
- provide associate sponsor support with both the Discount Tire and Tire Rack brands on all three of Penske's NTT IndyCar Series Chevrolet-powered entries — Josef Newgarden (No. 2), Scott McLaughlin (No. 3) and reigning series champ Will Power (No. 12).
Financial terms were not disclosed.
"We are proud of Team Penske's partnership with Discount Tire and the success we have had together over the years, including multiple championships and a victory in the Daytona 500," Team Penske Principal Roger Penske said.
"Our companies share many of the same core values and this is a partnership that continues to deliver, both on and off the race track. We are excited to build on our success together in 2023 and into the future."
The companies did not elaborate on the length of the contract extension. They last renewed their relationship in 2019.
The companies' partnership began in 2010 in the NASCAR Nationwide (now Xfinity) Series.
"Discount Tire is grateful for our partnership with Roger Penske and Team Penske," Michael Zuieback, executive chairman of Discount Tire, said.
"For more than a decade, this partnership has allowed our people, our customers and our race team to dream bigger and we look forward to celebrating more championships together with Team Penske in the future."
Team Penske drivers have notched up 36 NASCAR race victories while carrying Discount Tire's colors — including the 2022 Daytona 500 — and 10 combined championships.
