HANOVER, Germany — Continental A.G. has shifted executive duties within its Specialty Tires business unit, assigning responsibility for commercial specialty tires to Thomas Falke and for two-wheeler tires to Wolfgang Thomale, who also continues as the head of the business unit overall.
With the internal shift, the business unit continues to follow its chosen growth path in the associated areas of commercial specialty tires, two-wheeler tires and Hoosier Racing Tires, Conti said. The change is expected to benefit the businesses, Conti said, due to the wealth of experience of the two managers.
Mr. Falke is credited with building and expanding Conti's motorcycle and bicycle tire business over the past seven years, experience he is expected to bring to the business with tires for highly specialized industrial, port, construction and agricultural machinery.
Before moving to Specialty Tires, Mr. Thomale gained many years of experience in the passenger and light truck tire business. Conti expects he'll be able to draw on that B2C business experience to drive growth at two-wheel tires.
Joerg Burfien continues to head up Hoosier Racing Tires.
Conti established the Specialty Tires business unit in July 2020 by incorporating the activities of the commercial specialty tires, two-wheel tires and Hoosier Racing Tire businesses into that unit. That restructuring followed the firm's strategic move in 2012 to extend its range of industrial products into the large and OTR mining sectors.
