FORT MILL, S.C. — Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C. is planning to raise prices in the U.S. Oct. 1 on select Continental- and General-brand passenger and light truck tires in the U.S. by as-yet undisclosed amounts.
Conti did not elaborate on its reasons for raising prices at this time. The increases will vary across specific products by brand. Details of the increase will be made available to direct customers by Sept. 1, 2021
The increase is Continental's third announced in the U.S. this year. It raised prices on July 1 and on March 1, both times by undisclosed amounts.
Conti's Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. business unit is raising prices on select Hoosier-brand race and street tire products up to 15%, effective Sept. 1.
Other recently disclosed price increases include:
- Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. — for passenger and light truck tires in the U.S. and Canada by up to 8%, effective Sept. 1;
- Goodyear — for Goodyear-, Dunlop- and Kelly-brand passenger and light truck tires by up to 8%, effective Sept. 1;
- Michelin North America Inc. — for "select" Michelin-, BFGoodrich- and Uniroyal-brand tires in North America, by up to 8%, and on motorcycle tires by 4% and on on- and off-road commercial tires, by up to 14%; all are effective Sept. 1;
- Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. — on Falken- and Ohtsu-brand passenger, light truck and medium truck/bus tires, by up to 8% on Aug. 1, in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico; and
- Yokohama Tire Corp. — on consumer replacement and commercial truck tires in the U.S. on Aug. 1 by an undisclosed amount.
