TORONTO — Fountain Tire Ltd. and Point S Canada have been recognized through Canada's Best Managed Companies program, for the 28th and fourth consecutive years, respectively.
Edmonton, Alberta-based Fountain Tire earned a spot on the program's Platinum Club, which recognizes companies that have been on the list at least seven times. Fountain has been a Platinum Club member since 2003.
Boucherville, Quebec-based Point S Canada received the Gold Standard award through the program.
With 160 stores spread over five provinces, Fountain Tire is considered the second-largest independent tire dealership in Canada and ninth largest in North America, according to Tire Business research.
Point S Canada, with more than 840 stores operating under its various retail brands, calls itself Canada's largest network of independent retailers for consumer and commercial tires, auto services, auto glass and accessories.
"Receiving the Gold Standard award for a fourth consecutive year is a great achievement for our company," CEO Bruno Leclair said. "It is a testament to our drive to continuously push ourselves and innovate in our industry."
Canada's Best Managed Companies program is now in its 28th year recognizing the merits of Canadian owned and managed companies for their practices.
Nominees in the competition are evaluated by an independent panel that includes guest judges and award sponsors' representatives.
Point S Canada's brands include Point S, Point S City, V1, Otobox, Prestige Tire, Méga Pneu and Pneus Max Plu. Locations are in Alberta, Labrador, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.
Companies must have revenue exceeding $25 million to compete in the program sponsored by Deloitte Private, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business and TMX Group.
