NASHVILLE, Tenn.― Ford Motor Co. has specified the Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus as an original equipment fitment on select models of the 2020 Ford Escape SUV.
The new fitment is Bridgestone Americas Inc.'s first with Ford since 2000/2001 when Ford suspended its business with Bridgestone in the wake of the Firestone Wilderness/Ford Explorer rollover controversy.
Ford is fitting the Ecopia H/L 422 Plus --- a premium tire built for enhanced fuel efficiency --- as standard equipment on the Titanium and Titanium Hybrid models of the Escape in size 225/55R19 and is offering it as an upgrade option on the SE Hybrid and SEL models, Bridgestone said.
The redesigned 2020 Escape offers four engine/propulsion choices – a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder EcoBoost; a 2-liter, 4-cylinder EcoBoost; and a pair of hybrid options using the 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder motors --- and up to 37.5 cubic feet of cargo space, thanks to sliding second-row seats.
“We are pleased to work with Ford to deliver a premium tire that is engineered with low rolling resistance for enhanced fuel efficiency,” according to Shannon Quinn, president, original equipment, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
