NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Bridgestone Americas Inc. is recalling 12,612 Firestone Destination LE2, Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S and Bridgestone Turanza EL440 tires, which may have sustained cuts and tears during the sorting process, which can result in tire damage.
The potentially impacted tires were manufactured at Bridgestone's Wilson, N.C., factory between July 22 and Aug. 8, 2022, and shipped as original equipment fitments for the Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Highlander and Acura TLX, respectively.
The affected tires may contain bead cuts/tears caused by one of the de-palletizers at Bridgestone Americas' plant in Wilson (DOT plant code W2 or 1W2). A de-palletizer is not part of the manufacturing process, Bridgestone said. Instead it unstacks tires and loads them individually to a conveyor and onto a trailer for shipment.
Tires for the replacement channel do not pass through a de-palletizer and are not affected by this condition, Bridgestone said.
The specifics of the tires being recalled are:
- Firestone Destination LE2, size P265/65R17 110S (DOT date codes 2522 through 2622);
- Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S, size 235/55R20 102V (DOT date codes 2422 through 2722); and
- Bridgestone Turanza EL440, size 235/50R18 97V (DOT date codes 2521 through 2621).
The tires were intended as OE fitment on the Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Tacoma and Acura LDX, respectively.
Dealers will inspect and replace the tires, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed starting Dec. 19. Owners may contact BATO's customer service at 800-847-3272.
