NASHVILLE — Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations L.L.C. is recalling 115 Blizzark 6 tires, size 235/40R19. as the Department of Transportation (DOT) certification symbol is missing from the sidewalls.
As such, the tires do not comply with tire marking requirements.
The tires were manufactured at a Bridgestone plant in Tatabanya, Hungary from June 2 to June 22. All other tires without the proper symbol have been identified at BATO warehouses.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Transportation (NHTSA), both the Blizzak LM005 and Blizzak 6 (size 235/40R19) are produced in the same facility in Tatabanya.
The Blizzak LM005 is sold in the U.S. While in use in Europe, the Blizzak 6 was not targeted for sale in the U.S. until mid-2025. Accordingly, molds for Blizzak 6 tires produced in mid-2024 were not yet set up for all U.S.-required sidewall markings.
Paper labels for Blizzak LM005 were inadvertently attached to Blizzak 6 tires made during the above production weeks. NHTSA said the paper labels were used for tire identification both on the shipping and receiving ends of the export/import process, resulting in the inadvertent shipment of the non-compliant Blizzak 6 tires into the U.S.
Dealers will replace the tires as necessary, free of charge. Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners on May 9. Owners may contact BATO's customer service at (800) 847-3272.
