NASHVILLE — Bridgestone Americas Inc. said it raised more than $2.4 million to benefit United Way of Greater Nashville through its 2024 "United by What Really Matters" fundraising campaign.
In addition, Bridgestone employees logged 500 volunteer hours to support the agency via an employee volunteering program.
Bridgestone said it has raised more than $15 million for United Way since 2015, supporting essential services and programs across Middle Tennessee. Employees at tire maker's U.S. headquarters in Nashville, coupled with a grant from the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund, contributed more than $850,000.
The tire maker and its partners raised nearly $1.6 million at the seventh annual Bridgestone United Way Charitable Golf Tournament, held Oct. 15 at Hermitage Golf Club in Nashville.
The tournament remains the largest single fundraising event for United Way nationwide, according to Bridgestone.
"What really matters is helping empower our teammates to make a transformative difference in the communities where we move, live, work and play. That's why United Way is one of Bridgestone's most important and valued partners," Sara Correa, chief marketing officer, Bridgestone Americas, said. "We are grateful for the generosity of our teammates and partners who continue to show up for our neighbors when they need it most by supporting United Way's critical work."
Bridgestone extended the 2024 campaign with its inaugural community service program for Nashville-based employees. Volunteers created hygiene kits, sorted food, worked in community gardens, among other tasks.
"We are incredibly grateful for Bridgestone's unwavering commitment to our mission," Erica Mitchell, CEO-elect, United Way of Greater Nashville, said. "Their generous contributions and dedicated partnership have made a profound impact on our region, helping us unite the community and mobilize resources so that every child, individual and family thrives."
