AKRON — Bridgestone Americas Inc.'s Robert Asper, director, core system engineering, will be the keynote speaker at the 38th annual Tire Society meeting, scheduled for Sept. 10-11 in Akron.
Mr. Asper's presentation is entitled: "Will the Tire Society Rise to Meet the Challenges Created by Future Mobility?" The meeting will take place a the Akron-Fairlawn Hilton in west Akron.
In addition, the Tire Society — a non-profit established to disseminate knowledge and stimulate scientific and engineering development in the science and technology of tires — has published the final schedule of the 27 technical presentations on the program.
The conference theme is Mobility Frontiers. Papers are grouped under seven topics: tire performance; new light on tire technology; supplier technology; experimental technologies; emerging technologies; simulations; and friction.
In addition, Srikanth Saripalli, co-director for autonomous vehicles and sensor systems at Texas A&M University, will deliver a plenary lecture on Sept. 11 on "Autonomous Vehicles: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly."
The event will hold an awards banquet at the close of proceedings on Sept. 10. The dinner speaker will be Pierre Lefevre, chief technical officer for Coast Autonomous, speaking on "Time versus Space in Urban Mobility."
Registration through Aug. 5 is $440 for Tire Society members; $140 for retirees and $115 for students. Non-members can attend for $565 or $665, which includes membership dues. After Aug. 5 the price goes up $60.
