PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Brake components and systems maker Brembo S.p.A. is opening a distribution center in the Memphis area this month dedicated to serving its aftermarket customers in the U.S. and Canada.
The center will handle warehousing and logistics services for the company's aftermarket brake pads, rotors, brake fluid and related components.
"This new facility will help us to substantially improve our service levels to our aftermarket partners," Brembo North America President and CEO Dan Sandberg said, noting that "product availability, excellent delivery performance and being close to customers are Brembo's main priorities."
Brembo did not disclose details as to the facility's size or exact location, saying it is "strategically located" near Brembo's expanding group of customers in the U.S. and Canada and will provide best-in-class service levels, including a substantial reduction in lead time.
"We've greatly expanded our line of brake pads, rotors, and brake fluid and this new facility will ensure that our customers have immediate access to these products, which cover over 90% of vehicles in operation in North America today," Brembo said.
Brembo's primary focus is as an original equipment supplier, but the Strezzano, Italy-based company continues to expand its aftermarket product line with the same OE brake component expertise.
With nearly 11,000 employees in 14 countries and 18 manufacturing plants, Brembo supplies high-performance brake systems for key makers of cars, commercial vehicles and motorbikes worldwide, as well as clutches and other components for racing.
In North America, Brembo is represented by Brembo North America Inc. in Plymouth.
