NEW YORK — Newsweek magazine has named Brake Masters as the nation's best automotive repair chain and tirebuyer.com the best online tire and wheel "manufacturer," according to its 2021 America's Best Customer Service brands report.
Rounding out the top five auto repair chains are Pep Boys; O'Reilly Auto Parts; NAPA AutoCare Center and Firestone Complete Auto Care.
Other online tire retailers include Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct.
In business since 1983 as one of the first dedicated aftermarket repair/maintenance companies, Brake Masters Systems Inc. is a network of 95 company-operated and franchised stores throughout the U.S. Southwest providing a range of automotive services and auto repair on almost all vehicles.
Pep Boys is the retail automotive repair/maintenance chain operated by Icahn Automotive Inc.; it has 935 locations open throughout the U.S. O'Reilly operates 5,700 stores; NAPA AutoCare comprises thousands of independent garages operating under the NAPA AutoCare banner; and Firestone Complete Auto Care is Bridgestone Americas Inc.'s captive retail tire and automotive service business unit, with 2,200-plus locations.
Newsweek partnered with analytics firm Statista Inc. to survey more than 25,000 U.S. customers who either had made purchases, used services or gathered information about products or services in the past three years.
The results provided information about brick-and-mortar stores, online retailers and service providers from 160 categories. The awarded brands each received on average close to 100 evaluations from customers, Newsweek said.
The final assessment and rankings were based on the Net Promoter Score and five evaluation criteria.
