AKRON — Off-the-road tire manufacturer Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) has launched a low-inflation-pressure flotation tire designed for pivot irrigation applications, the Agrimax RT 818.
According to BKT, farm machinery leaves a footprint on the land and must be "coordinated" to obtain maximum proficiency and minimum impact on the land, a requirement that guarantees "crop yields where tires really matter," the tire maker said.
The new pivot irrigation tire is designed to run at lower air pressures for extra flotation to minimize ruts and soil compaction, increasing crop yields. BKT said the feature is important since it combines sustainability and effectiveness.
The Agrimax RT 818 offers traction that is essential when operating in fields with wet and damp conditions. The tire's directional tread pattern offers self-cleaning abilities and provides increased stability on hillside applications, BKT said.
The AgrimaxRT 818 is available in two sizes: 280/85 R 24 and 320/85 R 38, the latter of which features a deeper lug than the traditional irrigation bias tires, for an enhanced grip, BKT said.
