BFG to support ATV/UTV racers in WORCS series

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin North America Inc.'s BFGoodrich Tires brand is expanding its motorsports involvement by agreeing to support racers active in the World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS) as that predominantly two-wheeler-focused body expands its burgeoning ATV/ UTV classes.

Founded in 2001 to support off-road motorcycle racing, WORCS is branching into the rapidly growing areas of ATV/QUAD and side-by-side/UTV racing.

WORCS has scheduled a dozen race weekends for the ATV/UTV classes. The season opened Jan. 15-17 at Lake Havasu, Ariz.

BFGoodrich is working with Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, a Payson, Utah-based powersports supplier, to provide onsite support and tire sales.

BFGoodrich has designated its Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 UTV tire for this series, saying it delivers "extreme" traction and toughness for sport and multi-purpose UTVs. "Mud-phobic" bars on the shoulders help release compacted mud, while the "terrain-attack" tread pattern enhances grip on rock and slick surfaces.

"After recent racing success in the WORCS series, BFGoodrich is proud to support all levels of riders during the season," Richard Kornacki, director of two wheel at Michelin North America, said.

"The southwestern desert terrain provides an optimal setting to test and feature the tire's advanced design and performance."

Racers competing in WORCS are eligible for a $70 discount on a set of four KM3 UTV tires on site throughout the WORCS season and online.

Hoosier Racing Tire is also active in the series.
