INDIANAPOLIS — In an effort to support future automotive technicians, Belle Tire Distributors Inc. remodeled a classroom at Lincoln Educational Services Corp.'s Lincoln Tech Indianapolis campus and awarded three $1,000 scholarships for automotive service students there.
The ribbon-cutting and scholarship presentation took place June 16.
"We're committed to our neighbors and the communities where we do business," Belle Tire President Don Barnes III said.
"Helping students find a financially secure vocation and career is critical to a vibrant and strong community. Lincoln Tech is a great partner who shares our commitment. We are excited every time a graduate joins the Belle Tire family."
Belle Tire has been expanding into Indiana with the opening of 26 stores in the past four years, so the dealership constantly is seeking skilled auto service technicians, according to Mr. Barnes.
"We turn to excellent training institutions like Lincoln Tech to provide candidates with the hands-on skills these careers require," he said.
Belle Tire operates 127 stores across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
"We thank Belle Tire for their generous scholarship donations and support of our automotive and diesel technology programs," Brent Jenkins, president of Lincoln Tech's Indianapolis campus, said.
"They have been an amazing partner and play a key role in raising awareness among our students of career opportunities in the auto and diesel industries. We're grateful to count them among our employer partners and look forward to continuing the relationship for years to come. This sponsored classroom is an affirmation of that commitment."
Lincoln Tech offers recent high school graduates and working adults career-oriented programs in automotive technology, health sciences, skilled trades, business and information technology and hospitality services at its 22 campuses in 14 states.
