DURAND, Wis. — Bauer Built Inc. has awarded four scholarships to high school seniors who are children and grandchildren of its employees.
The scholarship program — created in conjunction with the company's 50th anniversary and in honor of founders G. F. "Sam" and Ethel V. Bauer — dates back to 1994.
This year's recipients, who each received $1,500, are:
- Bently Bauer, daughter of Bauer Built President Tad and Jodi Bauer and granddaughter of CEO Jerry and Sue Bauer. She plans to attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and pursue a degree in marketing.
- Brinly Bauer, daughter of Bauer Built President Tad and Jodi Bauer and granddaughter of CEO Jerry and Sue Bauer. She plans to attend the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and pursue a degree in marketing and graphic design.
- Alex Tittrington, son of Jennifer Brizius and Jason Tittrington and grandson of Steve and Jammie Brizius. Steve Brizius is the warehouse and transportation manager at the St. Paul tire center and Jammie Brizius is an administrative assistant at the Eagan, Minn., tire center. He plans to attend the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and pursue a degree in business.
- Lainna Duncan, daughter of David and Bobbijo Duncan. David Duncan is an outside sales representative at the Mason City, Iowa, tire center. She plans to attend South Dakota State University and pursue a degree in fish and wild life science.
Each applicant submitted a hand‐written essay on the field of study being pursued along with their career goals; two letters of recommendation; and verification of grade‐point average with their application.
Since 1994, Bauer Built has awarded $144,000 in scholarships.
Bauer Built has been in business 78 years servicing the Midwest with tires and expanded light mechanical services. The company operates 35 tire service locations, six Michelin Retread Technology retread plants and two wheel‐refinishing operations.
The company also operates a bulk petroleum business at its headquarters in Durand.
