HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) is partnering with On Demand Technologies Inc. to expand its ATD Express expedited tire delivery program nationally through the logistics provider's OneRail "delivery orchestration" platform.
ATD and On Demand Technologies disclosed the partnership this week after completing a test program with ATD in 19 of the 115 markets it serves, according to Dennis Hatchett, senior vice president of Supply Chain Operations at ATD, who lauded the OneRail platform's dependability, speed, service and unit economics for the test's success.
OneRail's cloud-based platform simplifies same-day and on-demand delivery execution by connecting in real time the demand signal (point-of-sale, e-commerce, ERP) with a system of delivery networks and internal fleets, according to Orlando, Fla.-based On Demand Technologies.
OneRail's centralized view of disparate final-mile data enables data-driven optimization, positively impacting the dependability, speed and cost of final-mile fulfillment, On Demand claims.
"OneRail's unique approach merging an aggregated pool of couriers with delivery automation technology, and logistics management services supports ATD's mission to develop a more cost-effective and flexible supply chain ecosystem," Mr. Hatchett said.
The ATD Express program is designed to provide ATD customers with a competitive advantage by offering delivery to their stores from a regional ATD distribution center in 90 minutes or less.
Through the new partnership, ATD Express delivery orders are routed from ATD's Oracle system to the OneRail platform, where the order is created and matched automatically with one of over 100 delivery companies in the OneRail system, the companies said. These companies employ roughly 4.5 million drivers.
OneRail's proprietary courier-matching algorithm accounts for courier performance and unit economics from historical delivery activity, On Demand said. Each courier is integrated with OneRail, providing real-time tracking for all deliveries, with predictive modeling for exceptions, such as late deliveries.
OneRail Founder and CEO Bill Catania called ATD a "true partner" and expressed his appreciation for ATD's "vision and commitment to drive digital transformation of the supply chain.
"As we advance from Phase One to a full national rollout, the OneRail team and our courier partners are committed to providing the highest level of service and support to ATD and its customers."
Other companies already using the OneRail platform include Tire Group International L.L.C.
