HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) has selected Winshuttle L.L.C., a specialist in helping companies manage data effectively, to help it upgrade its "data governance" systems, process and functions across both customer and product data streams.

ATD said it will leverage Winshuttle's multi-domain EnterWorks Master Data Management (MDM) platform to "optimize processes for its customer and product data management to ensure data quality between systems."

Sterling, Va. -based Winshuttle said employing EnterWorks will support ATD's redesign of its data-management processes and help move the company from a conceptual business strategy into an MDM solution that provides "clear, simple insight into all of its internal business process, data analytics and transactions."

The ultimate goal is to improve efficiency and productivity, although neither ATD nor Winshuttle provided specifics as how that would be measured or to what extent.

The Winshuttle system will provide ATD the ability to automate business processes to improve efficiency and productivity, as well as providing a single record of all data. The platform supports customer communication and customer record maintenance and enrichment, while providing integration with internal and external systems and processes.

ATD, North America's largest tire distributor, operates more than 140 warehouse locations with an operating fleet of 1,400 trucks. It routinely has over 40,000 SKUs in inventory and serves 80,000-plus customers in four sales channels: core tire dealer, auto dealer, corporate and e-commerce.

The Winshuttle MDM platform also helps ATD promote customer and product workflow standardization and audit control, the Huntersville-based tire distributor said.

Lalit Thakur, senior vice president and chief data officer of ATD, said the platform "can evolve with our changing business strategies and simultaneously give us greater ability to leverage third-party resources.

"Not only will we have new capabilities to streamline and improve the user experience, the solution will also allow us to better manage frequency and a number of product changes."

Kerry Young, vice president and general manager of Winshuttle EnterWorks, said the platform will give ATD "the flexibility it requires to support its grouping and hierarchies, create relationships based on specific business need and provide the granular visibility of data needed to run the business."
