HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) is expanding its leadership team by addressing a key cog in its operations: the supply chain.
Huntersville-based ATD has hired Moid Alwy as its chief supply chain officer, a position where Alwy will oversee ATD's supply chain while providing vision and strategy for its function and innovation.
Alwy spent nearly 20 years at Target Corp., where he began as a lead analyst in 2003 and eventually became vice president of global supply chain and logistics. In that role, he led the global operational intelligence team responsible for overall network steering, data and analytics, and critical transformation initiatives, according to ATD.
Alwy was part of the supply chain leadership team that helped grow Target from a $70 billion retailer to one that eclipsed $100 billion in two years.
"As we continue to transform our business, we are focused on creating a sustainable supply chain of the future to serve our customers and partners," ATD President Stuart Schuette said. "Moid has a proven track record in designing network strategies and driving supply chain innovation."
Alwy also spent two years at U.S. Bancorp, where he was responsible for the technology integration and implementation of mergers and acquisitions.
Alwy has a degree in information systems and mathematics from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Schuette said Alwy's appointment is just one part of the "ongoing plan to optimize ATD's business and creating a truly contemporary, omni-channel, and intelligent supply chain to support our customers and manufacturer partners..."
"Moid's efforts will be key to transforming the ATD supply chain from a traditional tire distributor to an omni-channel solutions provider," he said.
In July, ATD reached an agreement to sell its Canadian subsidiary, National Tire Distributors (NTD), to Canadian wholesaler Groupe Touchette Inc.
ATD operates more than 100 distribution centers in the U.S.
