HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. has begun shipping its first utility terrain vehicle (UTV) and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) tire, which it disclosed last year.
Hercules, a subsidiary of American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD), is co-branding the new tire, dubbed TIS UT1, with TIS Wheel, in what it claims is the first UTV/ATV tire to be offered by the pair.
The TIS UT1 has an aggressive, all-terrain tread pattern designed for UTV and side-by-side vehicles, the company said. The eight-ply-rated tire's void ratio and "biting" edges on the tread blocks are designed for a variety of surfaces.
Available sizes for the TIS UT1 include: 28x10.00R14/8, 30x10.00R14/8, 32x10.00R14/8, 30x10.00R15/8 and 32x10.00R15/8. The company said size 35x10.00R15/8 will launch the third quarter.
"Consumers want a tire that will confidently match the power, performance and agility of their UTV or ATV vehicle regardless of the terrain," Steven Liu, senior director of Hercules Tires, said.
"They also want to customize their vehicle with a tire that visually complements its look and personality. These tires are unique because they provide a custom user experience."
TIS Wheels, via the TIS OffRoad brand, brings its wheel expertise into the UTV/ATV market with a pair of wheel styles available in seven finishes. The 558 is a mesh style wheel available in satin black, anthracite gray, bronze and gloss black with milled accents. The 559 is an aggressive concave 8-spoke design available in bronze, anthracite gray and satin black.
The TIS UT1 by Hercules is backed by the Hercules Performance Promise, with a 24-month limited protection policy for workmanship and materials.
