LEESBURG, Va. — The ASE Education Foundation has launched an Adopt-A-School program as a way for businesses and organizations to give back to their communities and receive business benefits as well.
The goal of Adopt-A-School is to create partnerships between employers and schools in their respective communities and help train and prepare the next generation of automotive service professionals to enter the workforce.
The foundation will provide businesses with an Adopt-A-School Toolkit with information on activities, videos, presentation tools, checklists, best practices, talking points, engagement ideas and more. The program also will pair businesses with a field managers to help connect them with schools in their areas.
Under the program, businesses and industry organizations have the opportunity to mentor and hire future employees.
"The ASE Education Foundation's Adopt-A-School program not only offers companies a way to show support for their local high school and college training programs, but it also benefits their businesses by connecting them with the next generation of service professionals," ASE Education Foundation President Mike Coley said.
"The companies that have already adopted schools are seeing the advantages of these efforts. The ASE Adopt-A-School program not only allows these organizations to be good citizens, but also provides them with an avenue to access future employees. It's a terrific opportunity all the way around."
For their part, schools get industry partners who provide advice and guidance, demonstrate career opportunities for their students, and provide students with hands-on experience to improve their skills and encourage them to pursue an automotive career.
The ASE Education Foundation works with over 2,300 automotive technology training programs and over 100,000 students nationally to foster a viable workforce through standards and credentials for institutions, organizations and individuals.
