MIAMI — Zafco International's Armstrong Tires unit is adding all-weather tread patterns to the Armstrong Blu-Trac passenger and Tru-Trac SUV/light-truck product lines, touting the products' "performance flexibility" throughout the seasons.
The new tires are the Blu-Trac PC Flex and Tru-Trac SU Flex. The Blu-Trac PC and Tru-Trac SU are being rolled out with 12 and 13 SKUs, respectively, Armstrong Tires said, and are backed by a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, free 24/7 roadside assistance and road-hazard repairs and 30-day money-back guarantees.
The Blu-Trac PC Flex SKUs cover 14- to 18-inch rim diameters, ranging from 175/65R14 to 225/40ZR18, while the Tru-Trac SU Flex portfolio covers 16- to 19-inch rim diameters, ranging from 225/70R16 to 255/50R19.
Pricing information was not disclosed.
The new tires' features include:
- Summer and winter sipes for effective dry braking and increased surface area traction for more control in snow;
- "Augmented" tread patterns combine for all-weather performance;
- Inner tread design grooves for enhanced safety during "challenging" conditions throughout the seasons;
- Proprietary rubber compound mix delivers grip in varying road conditions while improving fuel efficiency.
Both tires feature asymmetric tread patterns and thus require directional mounting.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based Zafco acquired the global rights to the Armstrong brand in 2012 from Pirelli Tyre S.p.A., which had owned it since buying Armstrong Rubber Co. in 1988.
It relaunched Armstrong-brand passenger and light truck tires in 2017 after starting with commercial truck tires a few years earlier.
