SANTA ANA, Calif. — Yokohama Tire Corp. is updating its Geolandar line, launching the Geolandar CV G058 all-season for crossovers, smaller SUVs and minivans as the successor to the G055 that's been in the lineup since 2015.
The tire will come in H- and V-rated versions, in 33 sizes covering 16- to 20-inch rim diameters.
The product replaces the Geolander GO55 tire in the Yokohama lineup. According to a spokesman, it is the first new consumer product from the tire maker. No new tread patterns are expected to be released, only some size expansions of existing lines.
According to Yokohoma, the benefits of the tire are:
- Improved wet traction. The tire is made with Yokohama's CV2 compound that works in tandem with the serrated outer groove design to improve braking and traction in wet conditions;
- "Confident" winter traction. The hundreds of 2D/3D combination sipes create powerful biting edges, Yokohama said, giving drivers good grip on slick winter roads;
- Long treadlife. An optimized contact patch ensures even weight distribution for improved comfort and long-lasting wear;
- A quiet ride. The multi-pitch tread pattern reduces road noise to ensure drivers have a quiet ride; and
- Symmetric tread pattern.
The tire, which is manufactured in the Philippines, is backed by a 65,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.
Among the vehicles the tire will fit are the Acura MDX and RDX; Audi Q3 and Q5; Buick Enclave and Envision; Cadillac XT4 and XT5; Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox; Chrysler Pacifica; Dodge Journey; Ford Edge, Escape and Explorer; GMC Terrain; Honda CRV and Pilot; Hyundai Santa Fe and Tuscson; Jeep Cherokee and Compass; Kia Sedona, Sportage and Telluride; Lexus NX and RX; Lincoln Aviator, Corsair, MKC and MKT; Mazda CX5, CX7, CX9; Mitsubishi Endeavor and Outlander; Nissan Murano, Pathfinder and Rogue; Subaru Ascent, Forester and Outback; Toyota Highlander, RAV4 and Sienna; and Volkswagen Atlas, Tiguan and Tourareg.
The G058 is one of seven iterations of the Geolandar line.
