Yokohama releases all-terrain Geolandar A/T4 tire

HORSESHOE BAY, Texas — Yokohama Tire Corp. will roll out the Geolandar A/T4, its latest all-terrain light-truck tire, on July 1.

Designed for both highway and off-road use, the A/T4 replaces the Geolandar A/T G015, which has been on the market since 2016.

"The A/T4 is a go-anywhere tire," Drew Dayton, Yokohama Tire's senior product planning manager, consumer tires, said. "It's been designed and developed by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, which makes it capable enough for off-road adventurers and everyday drivers alike.

The tire is designed for full-size light trucks and SUVs, as well as CUVs, and will eventually be available in 134 sizes covering 15- to 22-inch wheel diameter fitments.

"The A/T4 will have an extensive size range in both Euro-metric and LT-metric sizes and is ready to roll on any surface, in any weather condition thanks to its outstanding off-road resilience and dependable all-weather traction," he said. 

"We improved it in every category," Davis said. "Even though it is so much more aggressive, and you'd think it would be louder, you're not going to notice an increase in noise (compared with the A/T G015)."

The A/T4 is carries the industry's Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol and features a dual-sidewall design that allows consumers to choose the appearance they like. Certain sizes of the tire will be available with white lettering.

The tire carries a 55,000- to 65,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.

Features of the Geolandar A/T4 G018 includes:

• Geo-Shield technology, offering extra strength for on- and off-road use by providing multiple sidewall plies, a full nylon cap and a high turn-up carcass;
• Enduro-Compound, a proprietary triple polymer to combat cutting and chipping and resist wear for longer mileage;
• An advanced tread pattern that features zig-zag grooves and triple 3D sipes for improved performance in dry and wet conditions;
• Single-pitch shoulder blocks to reduce noise on-road while enhancing traction off-road; and
• Aggressive center blocks to provide off-road traction on any trail surface with an enhanced profile that firmly grounds tread blocks for on-road handling and improved off-traction.
