SANTA ANA, Calif. — Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) has been named a lifetime trustee of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF), the company said.
YTC President and CEO Jeff Barna also was named to the UAF board of trustees. YTC is the North American arm of Tokyo-based Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.
UAF gives scholarships to students studying for technical and professional careers in the automotive industry as part of its mission to develop a strong and knowledgeable workforce.
Barna said YTC was committed to "seeding the industry with future talent," according to a news release.
UAF, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, has provided millions of dollars in scholarships and grants to fund research and educational programs since it started in 1986. That includes funding students pursuing careers in various industry segments, including automotive maintenance and repair, collision, heavy duty/diesel, performance engineering, supply chain, IT and cybersecurity, sales, marketing and finance.
