SANTA ANA, Calif. — Yokohama Tire Corp. is adding 17 Euro/hard-metric sizes to its Geolandar X-AT extreme all-terrain tire line engineered for pickup trucks, Jeeps and SUVs.

By year-end, the tire will be offered in more than 80 sizes, covering 15- to 22-inch rim diameters, the company announced July 6.

"The Euro/hard-metric sizes allow drivers with a highway all-season tire to upgrade to a more aggressive all-terrain tire with similar load capacity and tire pressure as their OE tire specifications," Drew Dayton, senior product planning manager, consumer tires, said.

Yokohama said the Geolandar X-AT, which features a dual-sidewall design, "is known for offering the ultimate off-road performance without sacrificing any on-road comfort."

The dual-sidewall design allows customers a choice of which look they prefer, Yokohama said. The line-up includes F load-range sizes for heavier carrying capacities.

The tire is built with Yokohama's "Geo-Shield" technology, which features multiple sidewall plies, a high turn-up carcass and a full nylon cap, which adds durability and puncture resistance, the company said.

YTC launched the X-AT line in 2019, offering consumers a product with "ultimate" off-road performance without sacrificing on-road comfort.

The new X-AT Euro/hard metric sizes are backed by a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, while the LT-metric sizes will continue to have a 45,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, the company said.

Along with the new Geolandar X-AT sizes, Yokohama said it has several new products it will launch in the near future. The company recently told Tire Business it would launch its first UHP all-season EV-specific tire early next year, "as well as a couple of customer exclusives," said Stan Chandgie, executive vice president of sales.

"On the commercial side, we introduced our 114R regional trailer tire at the end of the first quarter and have the 907W winter drive tire to replace our SY767 set to hit the market later this year," Chandgie said. In addition to a number of expansions, we're also looking to launch a new fuel-efficient drive tire by year-end or early next year.

"If you look at the last few years and what we're set to do in 2023, you can see that we remain committed to managing our product portfolio and attacking incremental segments when and where appropriate."

Yokohama Tire Corp. is the North American arm of Tokyo, Japan-based Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. Yokohama Rubber was ranked the eighth largest tire maker in the world, in terms of fiscal 2021 tire sales, in last year's Tire Business Global Tire Report.
