COSTA MESA, Calif. — Toyo Tire Tire U.S.A. Corp. has added 17- and 18-inch rim-diameter sizes to its M655 truck tire line, designed for commercial light-truck applications.
The new M655 sizes will be available in April, covering fitments for vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Ford E-Series, Ford F-250/F-350 and Ram series trucks.
“The new light truck sizes are a great addition to the Toyo M655 power lineup,” David Demo, product manager, commercial truck tires, Toyo Tire, said.
“They are designed to support vehicles that encounter extreme on-/off-road conditions, while leaving the driver feeling confident that they will complete the job.”
The M655 on-/off-road tire line offers improved traction under heavy load on unimproved roads for mining, energy, agriculture, construction and forestry use, Toyo said, and carries the industry's Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMS) designation for all-weather traction.
Pricing information was not disclosed. The LT sizes are Q speed rated and carry a Load Range E rating.
The M655 is designed to resist cuts and chips, sidewall impacts and irregular wear, according to Toyo, and features specialized cap and base compounds, plus a thick and sturdy sidewall to provide durability and performance.
The specialized compounds offer protection against cuts and chips on unimproved roads, as well as heat-resistance that withstands stresses under load, enhancing the tire's longevity and resilience, Toyo said.
The thick and sturdy sidewall is equipped with an extra buttress to protect against cuts and abrasions, bolstering the tire's overall durability.
The tire is engineered for maximum removal miles with E-balance technology to minimize tread profile growth and maintain uniformity throughout its lifespan. Saddle notches and stone ejectors work in tandem to shield the casing while fortifying the tread blocks for consistent performance and longevity in challenging driving conditions.
All-weather traction is facilitated by a wide contact patch and deep tread, which not only ensures reliable grip but also promotes even, long wear over time, Toyo said.
Waved sipes contributes to the tire's grip in diverse weather conditions and the tire is pinned to accept TSMI #15 studs for icy surfaces.
The growing range in sizes for the M655 now provide a comprehensive solution for both light and medium truck mixed-service fleets, Toyo said.
In addition to the new light truck sizes, the M655 is available in 19.5-inch medium truck sizes, and Toyo plans to add 22.5- and 24.5-inch medium truck sizes later this year.
