CYPRESS, Calif. — Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. has launched a successor to its "value-oriented" Extensa A/S broadline all-season tire line, the Extensa A/S II, with claims of improved performance and an increased treadwear warranty.
The line launches with 18 sizes, covering 14- to 18-inch rim diameters with 37 more sizes coming through the first quarter of 2020. Toyo said this will provide 80% coverage of the targeted passenger car, minivan, SUV/CUV and light truck markets.
The SKUs include 19 of the top 20 replacement sizes for a range of vehicles such as the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Camry, Corolla and RAV4, Honda Accord, Civic, and CR-V, Nissan Rogue, Chevy Equinox, Dodge Grand Caravan, Ford Ranger, etc.
The tire features a silica-based tread compound for improved wet performance and fuel efficiency; four circumferential tread grooves for improved wet traction; and multi-wave sipes to help minimize irregular wear.
Toyo did not quantify the claimed performance gains of the A/S II over the A/S but did increase the treadwear warranty to 70,000 miles from 65,000 miles for the A/S and is backing the new line with its "No Regrets" 500 mile/45-day trial offer.
The Extensa A/S was launched in 2009. Minimum advertised prices range from $68.08 to $156.45, depending on size and SKU.
The line is sourced from Toyo's plant in Taiping, Malaysia.
