Toyo adds 'super-regional' drive tire to commercial lineup

CYPRESS, Calif. — Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. has added a super-regional drive tire, the NanoEnergy M671, to its lineup of radial truck tires.

The M671 addresses a new market segment in the evolving freight market, according to Dave Johnston, director of sales for commercial tires for Toyo.

The super-regional designation applies to trucks that operate approximately 100,000 miles per year, often within a 500-mile radius in a spoke-and-hub-type delivery system. Trucks running this way operate both at highway speeds and in start-stop delivery mode, creating extra demands on the tires.

"The NanoEnergy line encompasses several fuel-saving components while maintaining the durability required in higher scrub super-regional fleets," Mr. Johnston said. "This increases the fleet's return on their investment and maximizes the life of the tire."

The SmartWay-verified M671 incorporates Toyo's advanced e-balance design, which the company said maintains the tread profile of the tire while reducing strain at the bead area and belt edge for greater stability and longevity under heavy loads.

It also features an "optimized" wide tread pattern with 3D sipes that provide even contact pressure, which yields increased traction and reduces irregular wear for longer tire life, Toyo claims.

In addition, Toyo said the M671 offers "excellent" retreadability thanks to the use of a high elongation top belt and stone ejectors that help protect the casing from cuts and damage.

Improved fuel efficiency is achieved through uniform cap and base compounds and "advanced" tread and sidewall compounds, Toyo said.

The new tire is available in three SKUs: 295/75R22.5 G/14; 11R22.5 G/14; and 11R22.5 H/16. For more information on the entire M-Line of Toyo Tires commercial products, log on to ToyoTires.com/Commercial.
