Popular Falken Wildpeak all-terrain gets an upgrade

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — Sumitomo Rubber North America (SRNA) has upgraded the Fallken A/T all-terrain line with the debut of the A/T4W, the follow-up to the A/T3W that debuted in 2016.

SRNA said the new tire is designed for on- and off-road use and features the industry's 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol for severe snow conditions.

"After the incredible success of the Wildpeak A/T3W, we had our work cut out for us to ensure the A/T4W could deliver upon expectations," Rick Brennan, Falken's vice president of strategic planning, said.

"After years of development, we're eager and proud to introduce the Wildpeak A/T4W to our customers. With a longer mileage warranty and improved towing capability, we're confident we've taken our best-selling tire and made it even better."

Featuring staggered shoulder blocks, and proprietary three-ply Duraspec sidewall technology on select sizes, the A/T4W provides all-terrain confidence and rugged durability. Duraspec gives the tire extreme-condition durability similar to the more aggressive Wildpeak R/T and Wildpeak M/T.

"In some ways we wanted to keep the foundation of what made the Wildpeak A/T3W so great," Tsuyoshi Johnson, director of product planning for the Falken brand, said.

"The tread pattern is very similar to that of its predecessor, and the sidewall looks familiar. We were able to make improvements by incorporating a new rubber compound, increasing tread rigidity, and introducing heavy-duty LT-rated sizes to take our all-terrain offering to the next level."

The increased tread rigidity, along with the introduction of heavy-duty LT-rated sizes, ensures the A/T4W delivers an improved towing experience compared with the A/T3W, SRNA said.

"We know this is a tire our customer base has been anticipating for some time now," Brennan said. "We're excited to bring the A/T4W to market, and can't wait to hear what customers think of our newest product."

The A/T4W is available in 96 sizes covering 15- to 22-inch rim diameters. Popular fitments include the Chevrolet Colorado and Silverado, Ford F-Series, Jeep Cherokee, RAM trucks, and Toyota's 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra.

SRNA offers a 65,000-mile limited tread life warranty for non-LT sizes (60,000 miles for LT sizes) and 30-day ride and road-hazard protection guarantees on the new product.
