MILAN — Pirelli & C. S.p.A. has scaled back production at its tire plant in Settimo Torinese, Italy, as it works to disinfect the facility after a confirmed case of COVID-19 at the site.
The move will allow the factory to operate with a "very limited number of employees" and "maximum safety," the Italian tire maker said March 10.
Pirelli did not give further details regarding production, but said it expected to production return to normal "in the coming days."
Pirelli said the supply to clients would continue "with a suitable level of service," using available stock.
Operational since 1955, the Settimo plant manufactures passenger and racing tires, and has the capacity to produce 10,000 units a day, according to Tire Business' 2019 Global Tire Report.
