    DAYTON, Tenn. — Nokian Tyres P.L.C. has unveiled an American-made, all-terrain tire, the Nokian Tyres Outpost nAT, which is set to replace the Outpost AT in the tire maker's lineup.

    Nokian said the nAT stands for North American all-terrain or new all-terrain, as the product was designed to be sold exclusively for drivers in the U.S. and Canada. It will be manufactured at the Nokian plant in Dayton, Tenn.

    Nokian Tyres said it is taking orders for dealers now, and the company will begin processing them in the near future as production of the line ramps up.

    Nokian Tyres Vice President of PCT North America Tommi Heinonen said the tire "will build on its predecessor, the Outpost AT, because it is tailored to drivers here in North America."

    Nokian's Outpost portfolio, which was launched in January 2022, also includes all-terrain and all-weather products, including the slightly less aggressive Nokian Tyres Outpost

    According to Nokian Tyres, the attributes of the Outpost nAT include:

    • A squarer profile, compared to the Outpost AT, with modified supports between the blocks, giving the tread a more aggressive look;
    • Summit sidewalls are more aggressive for aesthetic appeal to the North American consumer; and
    • Smooth sidewalls and raised lettering to look rugged.
    • The tread and sidewalls of the Nokian Tyres Outpost nAT features the tire maker's Aramid Tough Shield, the same fiber used in protective vests, reducing the risk of damage from potholes, road hazards and off-road surfaces.

    Canyon cuts at the intersection of the tread and shoulders provide extra grip on varied surfaces, Nokian said, and the all-weather compound comes with the three-peak-mountain-snowflake symbol that certifies the tire is suitable for winter driving.The tire also comes with a Pothole Protection program.
