Quebec, Colorado battle for worst roads in North America

DAYTON, Tenn. — Nokian Tyres P.L.C. is looking for the worst roads in North America and is holding its own March Madness bracket-style competition to find them.

Through March 29, Nokian is holding a competition between notoriously pockmarked states and provinces — asking drivers to vote on social media — while also educating drivers about safety on rough roads.

The bracket is down to the final two — the battle of Colorado versus Quebec — for the honor of the Worst Roads in North America. The final round of voting starts March 26.

This is the third year for the tournament competition. In 2023, drivers picked Quebec as the province or state with the worst roads.

After voting on Nokian's social media pages, drivers can argue their case and submit photo evidence at NokianTires.com/Potholes. Eligible residents of the U.S. and Canada will be entered to win a set of Nokian One tires, which the tire maker said is reinforced with tough Aramid fibers.

Nokian's One and One HT, the all-terrain Nokian Tyres Outpost nAT and APT, and the new all-weather Remedy WRG5 come with the company's Pothole Protection; if the tire is damaged beyond repair by a pothole or road hazard, Nokian will replace the tire at no charge.
