Michelin's Uniroyal debuts new Laredo AT, HT tires

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin North American Inc.'s Uniroyal brand is responding to the demand for larger vehicles by launching a pair of tire lines for trucks and SUVs, the Uniroyal Laredo HT and Laredo AT.

"We know as the market shifts, people are buying larger vehicles and using pickup trucks as daily drivers," Michelle Grim, Uniroyal brand director, said. "The Laredo family of tires will help accommodate this dynamic market shift while delivering the high quality and versatility our customers expect."

The Laredo HT is an all-season highway tire for light-duty pickup trucks and SUVS, designed for "confidence on the road" whether driving on the highway or taking a long road trip. The tire comes with a 60,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.

The Laredo AT is an all-season tire designed for both on- and off-road driving in light-duty pickup trucks and SUVs. It features staggered shoulder blocks for "traction you can trust" as well as a "reliable" tread compound for long-lasting, consistent treadwear on the highway, the tire maker said. It comes with a 55,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.

Combined, the two tires come in 66 size offerings. Both are also backed by a 45-day satisfaction guarantee.

Uniroyal first spoke to Tire Business in May about the new Laredo offerings. The tires are designed to cover a wide range of full-size SUVs and pick-up trucks, Grim said at the time, adding that additional sizes would be released in the fall.

"So whether it's someone who has the new latest pick-up truck or someone who's been around, we see coverage for both." she said.

The Laredo is aimed at the driver who "really wants something that's going to last and something that's more their money, for the value," she added.
