GRAPEVINE, Texas — Caterpillar Inc. has recognized Michelin North America Inc. and rubber-track supplier McLaren Industries Inc. for their commitment to excellence, awarding them both the Caterpillar Supplier Excellence Award.
The top-performing suppliers met or exceeded rigorous requirements and achieved world-class certification levels under Caterpillar's Supplier excellence programming from May 2022 through June 2023, the maker of farm, mining and earthmoving equipment said at a ceremony held in October in Grapevine.
"Simply put, Caterpillar suppliers are the front-end of our value chain to ensure we deliver innovative products and services that make Caterpillar customers more successful," Pam Heminger, senior vice president for strategic procurement and planning, said.
"By working together, we can deliver on our purpose to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world."
Michelin and Mclaren were among five companies honored in the construction industries category.
Michelin said the award honors suppliers that support Caterpillar's growth strategy with a "culture of zero defects for customers."
"Caterpillar depends on premiere suppliers like Michelin to provide high-quality, defect-free products that meet or exceed their standards," Bill Schafer, vice president of sales, Beyond Road, for Michelin Mining
"We are proud that our team has collaborated closely with Caterpillar to help them provide products and services to their customers all over the world."
Jacksonville, Fla.-based McLaren Industries produces rubber and steel tracks, solid and cushion rubber tires and other construction-equipment attachments. The firm did not comment on the award publicly.
Earlier this year Michelin received top supplier awards from General Motors Co. and Honda North America Inc.
