LANGHAM, Saskatchewan — Michelin North America has expanded the range of its Tweel non-pneumatic tire/wheel hybrid with a pair of products designed for skid-steers with maximum loads of up to 4,400 pounds.
Launched at the Ag in Motion trade show in Langham, the Tweel SSL AT2 and HST2 are designed for all-terrain and hard-surface applications, respectively. Michelin launched the tires in size 12N16.5, which has applications in construction, paving, agriculture, recycling, landscaping, refuse and contracting.
Available Aug. 1 in the U.S. and Canada, the products are offered with embedded 8-bolt hubs that are interlocked mechanically to increase durability, Michelin said.
The SSL 2 version is designed with improved shear beam construction that maximizes core life and a new spoke formulation that provides up to 10 times greater spoke life than previous iterations.
The SSL HST 2 is constructed with a 48/32nds-inch tread depth with 8/32nds-inch of undertread.
The SSL AT 2 is constructed with a 31/32ndS-inch tread depth with 12/32ndS-inch of undertread. The outer core tread can be retreaded multiple times for an effective overall cost of ownership.
