ATLANTA — Kumho Tire USA Inc. is launching a grand touring all-weather tire, the Solus HA32, which the company said was designed to provide outstanding traction in winter conditions for passenger cars, CUVs and SUVs.
The tire performs well in all four seasons, Kumho said, as a result of its V-shaped directional tread pattern with wide lateral grooves that enhance traction and resist hydroplaning.
The tire has the three-peak mountain snowflake, which signifies the tire met or exceeds the industry's required performance criteria for severe snow service.
It will be available on Jan. 1, initially offered in 26 sizes, fitting tires with rim diameters of 15 to 19 inches. The tire comes with a 60,000-mile treadwear warranty and road-hazard protection for all passenger and SUV sizes.
Other features include:
- An hourglass visual wear indicator that helps identify when winter performance is decreased, and tires need replacing;
- 3D interlocking sipes to improve shoulder block stiffness and handling in all conditions;
- A new high-grip compound that was developed with pine resin to decrease braking distances and maximize snow grip; and
- 3D slope tie-bars that connect the center blocks for improved straight driving and water evacuation.
