ATLANTA — Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc., has launched a grand touring all-season tire, the Solus TA51a, designed for the North American market.
The tire replaces the Solus TA71, TA31 and the T11 in the Kumho lineup. It will be available in 82 sizes, covering 13- to 19-inch rim diameters.
The Solus TA51a, which is for coupes, sedans, CUVs and SUVs, comes with a 65,000 treadwear mileage warranty on sizes with an H speed rating and above and a 75,000-mile warranty on T speed-rated sizes.
Kumho said the product "provides a quiet, comfortable experience in addition to a confident grip and responsive handling in dry, wet, and wintry conditions."
The tire features ribs in main channel grooves that break up and dissipate noise, the company said. It has four wide main channel grooves that maximize water drainage and reduce hydroplaning in wet conditions. The compound has multi-functionalized polymers and high dispersion silica in the tread compound, Kumho said, improving treadwear and maximizing grip in winter conditions.
Interlocking sipes and chamfered block edges increases tread block rigidity and road contact during braking and cornering, improving handling, the company said.
