REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — Kenda Tire's aggressive Klever M/T2 (first announced at SEMA 2021) is having a strong first season on the track, and the company just announced new versions with raised red lettering on both the M/T2 and Klever R/T.
The Klever M/T2 KR629 debuted earlier this year in retail showrooms and this spring on the off-road racing circuit. Specifically on some 35 in. and 37 in. sizes, Kenda also revealed their new raised red-letter sidewall that will be featured on the M/T2 and the R/T. This is the first "true" red-letter rubber lettering offered in the marketplace and honors Kenda's winning racing heritage, the company said.
Kenda spent over two years developing the new Klever M/T2 and over four years on its unique red-letter offering. The process included extensive UV testing by placing the red rubber in real world/outdoor conditions and checking it monthly to monitor any fading to an off-brand pink, Kenda said.
"We brought all the materials (involved) into our tech center and tested them for aging," Al Henderson, automotive team leader – engineering for Kenda, said. "We've used an ozone tester to look at each component that goes into the red compound, making sure it's not predisposed to color distortion over time."
The Klever M/T2 and R/T true red-letter tires will be featured throughout the summer in short course off-road and desert racing series across the country. Kenda embraces off-road and desert racing as it allows them to race DOT tires — the same tires sold to consumers in retail stores.
