COLUMBUS, Ohio — Honda North America recently honored Hankook Tire America Corp. and Michelin North America with top supplier awards for 2018.
Hankook and Michelin were among 85 North American suppliers honored for consistently exceeding expectations and offering outstanding value.
Nashville-based Hankook was one of only four suppliers to receive Honda's "Double Award," which recognizes excellence in the all of the areas of quality, delivery and value, Hankook said.
"The value of our suppliers and what they contribute to Honda is critical to our success and our effort to drive innovation into our products and production processes toward the future," Pam Heminger, vice president for Purchasing, Honda of America Mfg. Inc., said.
Honda honored suppliers in two areas – those supplying parts and materials for mass production products and companies supplying service parts that serve the needs of customers after they have purchased Honda and Acura products.
"Hankook has now been the recipient of awards in the supplier value category four times, as well as two in the newly merged delivery and quality category from the manufacturer," the tire maker said.
A Honda supplier since 2013, Hankook supplies tires to 16 Honda plants in North America, providing both passenger and light truck tires.
"Hankook values our partnership with Honda to provide the highest quality tires for Honda vehicles," Eric Shirley, Hankook Tire's director of original equipment sales, said in a statement. "These awards are a reflection of our strong and growing relationship, and it is an honor to continue to support Honda."
Michelin was recognized for excellence in quality and delivery.
