GRI CEO Mahesha Ranasoma speaks at the Smithers Sustainability in Tires 2023 conference.

SHANGHAI, China — Global Rubber Industries (GRI) CEO Mahesha Ranasoma spoke at the recent Smithers Sustainability in Tires 2023 conference, where he highlighted GRI's role in developing sustainable specialty tires and green practices and emphasized the "company's commitment to advancing environmentally conscious solutions."

The presentation, titled "The Green Revolution of the Tire Industry: A Deep Dive into ESG Integration," highlighted GRI's Green XLR Earth series of sustainable radial agriculture tires and its Ultimate Green XT sustainable forklift tires.

GRI incorporates recycled carbon black (RCB) into tire compounds for those product lines.

At the conference, Ranasoma "highlighted GRI's role in the green revolution of the tire industry" exemplified by those two tires.

"These innovative tires incorporate a high degree of sustainable materials, a testament to GRI's commitment to sustainability and innovation within the industry," GRI said.

Ranasoma also spoke about GRI's Green X Circle initiative, launched in 2019, which is aimed at fostering local and global collaborations with farming communities.

Ranasoma "emphasized GRI's dedication to nurturing sustainability champions throughout the value chain."

Based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, GRI opened its first solid tire plant in 2002. The company now has sales operations in 10 countries, and a business presence in more than 50 countries.
