LAS VEGAS — Goodyear is expanding its portfolio of tires in North America for the off-the-road (OTR) sector with the Powerload line of tires, designed for compact wheel roaders and graders.
The new line, which debuted in Europe a year ago, launches in E-2 (traction) and L-2 (flotation) versions and four sizes — 365/70R18, 365/80R20, 405/70R18 and 405/70R20 — with additional sizes expected later in the year.
Goodyear debuted the Powerload for North America at the recent ConExpo/ConAgg trade show in Las Vegas.
The new Powerload lineup was designed to deliver traction and durability for applications in construction, loading, logistics support and landscaping. The Powerload line also is designed for use on electric-drive or hybrid vehicles, Goodyear said, without elaborating on the specific characteristics of that claim.
Among the line's features are:
- Smooth Guard Technology — design features that support improved cut resistance and casing protection in the shoulder and sidewall.
- Non-directional tread design provides "superb" forward and lateral traction and self-cleaning properties for continued operation in tough conditions.
- Deep shoulder tread depth helps increase mileage and lower cost-per-hour.
- Reinforced sidewall construction increases stability and maneuverability while reducing bucket sway in loading operations.
- Flange cover protection and incorporated pry-bar notch help avoid penetration of soil or foreign objects in between rim and tire while making tire mounting and dismounting easier.
The tire's non-directional tread pattern — inspired by the Goodyear TL-3A designed for vehicles with 25-inch rims and larger — helps dealers and users simplify their stocking.
"The Powerload lineup lends versatility and toughness to any application thanks to the specially designed features and innovative technologies incorporated in the new lineup," Loic Ravasio, general manager, Goodyear Global & Americas OTR, said.
"Without a doubt, Powerload will help drive productivity and efficiency wherever it's put to work."
Goodyear is producing the Powerload line tires at its plant in Wittlich, Germany. Pricing information was not disclosed.
