Goodyear debuts CooperCobra Instinct all-season tire

AKRON — Goodyear has launched the latest product to its Cooper Cobra line, an all-season tire that fits high-performance sedans, CUVs SUVs and muscle cars, called the CooperCobra Instinct.

The tire is available in 25 sizes, covering 17- to 20-inch rim diameters. Goodyear said the CooperCobra Instinct will fit a range of performance vehicles such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang, Mazda 3, Lexus IS 300 and Acura TLX.

The CooperCobra Instinct has an asymmetric tread patters and sweeping tread grooves, Goodyear said, that provide agile traction, enhanced grip and improved braking on wet and snowy road. The tire maker said the snakeskin-inspired sidewall design "delivers striking aesthetics for bold curb appeal."

Other highlights of the tire, part of Cooper Cobra 35-plus year legacy, include:

• A tread compound that contains soybean oil, which replaces a portion of the petroleum-based materials used in production and helps the tread to stay pliable and grip the road in colder temperatures;
• Sweeping tread grooves that promote water evacuation in wet conditions; and
• A strong, lightweight design for enhanced responsiveness.

Michiel Kramer, director of product marketing at Goodyear, said the tire was engineered "to keep up with drivers and the quick decisions they make on the road, without sacrificing wet weather performance or sleek design."
