Goodyear adds DuraTrac RT to Wrangler LT tire lineup

AKRON — Goodyear has added the DuraTrac RT, an all-season on- and off-road tire for light trucks and SUVs engineered for rough terrain, to its Wrangler line portfolio.

The Wrangler DuraTrac RT — successor to the DuraTrac that's been on the market for nearly a decade — is built with a layer of aramid fiber for protection against tread damage and a three-ply sidewall with Durawall compound to help resist punctures, abrasions and cuts in rough, off-road conditions, Goodyear said.

The tire carries the tire industry's Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake designation for traction and control in winter weather conditions and features a tread pattern with biting edges for enhanced grip.

"From summer off-roading to snowy on-road drives, the new Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT provides drivers with the power and versatility to take them where they want to go," Michiel Kramer, Goodyear's director of product marketing, said.

"Engineered with a proven tread pattern featuring more biting edges for enhanced grip, this versatile tire can help drivers take on any road or trail in any weather condition — rain, snow or shine."

The Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT is backed with a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty and is available in 42 metric, LT and flotations sizes, covering 16- 18- and 20- and 22-inch rim diameters / 30- to 35-inch outside tire diameters in both metric and LT sizes.

The size range fits a number of popular pick-up trucks and SUVs, including the Chevrolet Silverado and Tahoe, GMC Sierra and Yukon, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Super Duty and F-150 and Ram 1500.

Metric sizing starts at 265/70R16XL and ranges up 265/50R22; LT sizing starts at LT245/75R16 and ranges up to LT305/55R20. There also are a pair of flotation sizes: 33x12.50R20LT and 35x12.50R20LT.to oodyear did not provide pricing information.

With this addition, there are more than 20 iterations of the Wrangler line, including the Wrangler Boulder MT, a mud-terrain tire introduced earlier in September.
